The Ground Forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have exterminated four more terrorists during a continued counterterrorism operation in the country’s southeast.
According to Press TV of Iran, the operation took place in the village of Firouzabad in Rask County in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, where the servicemen of the Ground Forces’ Quds Headquarters have been undertaking the “Martyrs of Security” exercises since late last month.
Brigadier General Ahmad Shafayi, the headquarters’ deputy commander, referred to those exterminated as “the global arrogance’s mercenary terrorists.” An IRGC serviceman, recognised as Mohammad-Reza Rostaminezhad, who used to be enrolled with the Corps’ special forces, was martyred and three people, namely two women and a man, were injured during the confrontation, added the official.
The trio was injured after the terrorists, who had lost hope of running the situation, began to fire aimlessly towards the nearby main road, hitting a passing civilian vehicle, he stated. The injured were immediately taken to available medical facilities by the Corps’ servicemen, and are currently acquiring treatment, Shafayi noted.
The official expressed the clashes also led to the discovery and seizure of a vehicle and a considerable quantity of weapons and ammunition.
“[Persistent] efforts are underway towards pursuit and elimination of the remnants of the terror group,”
Shafayi said.
So far during the procedure, the Corps has either killed or captured dozens of terrorists, including 10 terrorists, who were annihilated or apprehended in the southern part of the province earlier this week. The exercises had been scheduled to go underway later this month but were undertaken on October 26 following a foreign-backed terrorist raid on a police convoy in the province that claimed the lives of 10 police forces.
The so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist body that has carried out numerous raids in Iran, primarily in Sistan and Baluchestan, claimed responsibility for the raid, which was one of the most harmful to take place in the province in recent months.
