Luca Russo is Senior Food Crises Analyst and Strategic Adviser in the Management Team tasked with overall implementation FAO Strategic Programme on Resilience. The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Luca is an agricultural economist with broad field experience, particularly in Africa. His main area of expertise is food security and resilience in protracted crises and related policy and analytical frameworks. He has published extensively on the topic. At FAO Luca leads major food security and resilience-related analysis projects, including the Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), the Early Warning for Early Action (EWEA) process and the Resilience Index for Measurement and analysis (RIMA). These inform policy development and programming on resilience and food security. Luca is also a key contributor to FAO corporate efforts to address food crises in the framework of the Global Network Against Food Crises initiatives. Luca is also member of the FSIN Steering Committee.
