In cooperation with the University of Plymouth, Tactics Institute for Security and Counter-Terrorism presents the second episode of its Maritime Security Series on modern piracy.

The second video considers the question of why piracy takes place in some regions and not in others?

Tactics spoke with Dr. Fotios Moustakis, Associate Professor of Strategic Studies and Director of Dartmouth Centre for Sea Power and Strategy at the University of Plymouth. Dr. Moustakis analyses the land and sea parameters of modern piracy and addresses the question of why there are fewer incidents in the Horn of Africa than a decade ago. He also explains how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting piracy.
