MS-13 Gang Affiliate Wanted for Terrorism Arrested in New Jersey

An infamous MS-13 gang affiliate wanted for years for terrorism and murder in El Salvador has been arrested residing illegally in New Jersey. The detention of Johnathan Stanley Garcia-Vasquez in West New York concludes a troubling tale extending from June 2016, when he was arrested and then released while travelling the border illegally in Texas, the Newark office of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported.

The Newark office of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement stated the “known associate of the MS-13 criminal organisation” is finally awaiting eviction to El Salvador, where he has been wanted for six years on a summons for annoyed homicide and terrorism charges.

“The United States is not a sanctuary for international criminals aiming to manipulate our immigration laws to escape justice in their home countries,”

stated John Tsoukaris, the Newark director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).

“Our official’s diligence and dedication to public safety permitted them to safely capture this international criminal before he could cause damage to the citizens and citizens of New Jersey.”

A magistrate in San Miguel, El Salvador, gave an arrest warrant for Johnathan Stanley Garcia-Garcia on Aug. 7, 2018, for ruffled homicide and partaking in a terrorist organisation, ICE stated, without describing the crimes. A US immigration magistrate called the gangster to be dismissed in absentia in October 2018 but Garcia never surrendered.

On July 15, 2020, during a White House press gathering, Attorney General William Barr revealed that the Department of Justice had launched terrorism charges against Armando Eliu Melgar Diaz, a Honduran citizen who transferred from the United States back to his homeland in 2016. The report marked the first time the Department of Justice had employed terrorism charges against MS-13 according to a Washington Post story. In January 2021, Acting US Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen declared terrorism indictments against 14 MS-13 commanders known as “Ranfla Nacional” and jailed in El Salvador.
