Moscow has pledged to respond to Ukrainian attacks within its borders after a drone set on fire a storehouse allegedly storing munitions, evoking a state of emergency in Russia’s south-western Voronezh region.
The drone attack took place in a colony in the Podgorensky district, Voronezh governor Aleksandr Gusev stated. Ukrainian sources expressed the warehouse was targeted because it was being utilised to supply ammunition to Russian troops fighting in Ukraine.
Several UAVs were witnessed and destroyed by on-duty air defence forces over the region of the Voronezh region last night. A fire broke out at a storage due to the fall of their wreckage. Detonation of explosive items started in the Podgorensky district.
According to sources the settlement where the invasion took place but said a state of emergency had been reported there. No one was wounded in the attack, but two elderly women were taken to hospital for checks. Operational services, military and officials are operating on the site to eliminate the emergency.
Meanwhile, Russian aggression in Ukraine also persisted, injuring at least two people in the Kharkiv region, according to local authorities. Additionally, south in the Kherson region, rescuers put out 14 fires due to Russian shelling that damaged residential buildings and cars, according to authorities.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow supports “a complete and final end” to the Ukraine battle rather than “some kind of truce or cease-fire.” Putin, however, restated his direction that Ukrainian forces must draw from the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions during a press meeting in Moscow after meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Other terms are “a subject for consideration,” he said.
“Russia is dedicated to the complete and definitive resolution of the conflict. The prerequisites for this are outlined in my address (to the Foreign Ministry) – the withdrawal of all troops from the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. There are other circumstances which are a subject for review in the course of possible joint work,” he said. Putin claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy avoids stability talks because doing so would require him to lift martial law and carry a presidential election, and his probability of winning is close to zero.
Regarding Russia’s ties with the EU, Putin said they are currently “at the lowest ebb,” and that he has examined the future security architecture in Europe with Orban. During the talks, the Russian president stated, that the Hungarian prime minister primarily represented Western views, including those on Ukraine. “We sense the prime minister’s visit as an attempt to correct dialogue and give it an additional impetus,” Putin stated.
For his part, Orban stated Hungary considers ensuring peace in Europe its primary task during the presidency of the EU Council, for this objective, he came to Moscow. “I desired to know what is the shortest way to finish the war, and I wanted to know the president’s view on three issues — what does he think about the existing peace endeavours on Ukraine, the possibility of a cease-fire and peace talks — what should be the order to hold them, and the vision of Europe after the war,” he stated.
