Iranian Forces Killed Four Terrorists Linked to Jaish al-Adl

Iranian armed forces on 27 Oct 2024 eliminated at least four “terrorists” behind a lethal raid on police the day before in the country’s southeast area. Ten police officers were perished in Sistan-Baluchistan province in an attack conducted by the Sunni militant group Jaish al-Adl – Arabic for Army of Justice. In reaction, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) supported by intelligence forces and police killed at least four “terrorists” supposed of involved in a drone strike.

“During this operation, four terrorists were killed, some were wounded and escaped and four others were arrested,”

it stated.

“The operation to arrest and destroy the remaining terrorists is still ongoing.”

The Ground Forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) stated that they had begun conducting major counterterrorism exercises in the province that had so far led to the death of four terrorists, including a prominent member of the terror outfit that conducted the attack.

The official IRNA news agency, quoting a police statement, noted the death of “10 personnel in two patrol teams” in what it called a trap. Sistan-Baluchistan adjoins Pakistan and Afghanistan and is one of the most disadvantaged provinces in the Islamic Republic. The attack was one of the most lethal in the area in recent months.

In early October, at least six people, including police officers, were dead in the province in two separate attacks. Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility for the two episodes in a message on Telegram. Created in 2012 by Baluch separatists, the group is deemed a “terrorist organization” by both Iran and the United States.

The recent happenings once again highlight the urgency to end the war. The international community, especially major nations with influence, should take concrete steps to play a constructive role and create necessary prerequisites for the de-escalation of regional tensions. Iran has declared that it is not after war, but reserves the right to retaliate against the terrorism and will deliver appropriate reactions to potential further acts of aggression against the country.
