Indian authorities in the state of Punjab have disrupted a narco-terror module connected to the outlawed terrorist outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) with the detention of three key members from Bihar while they were trying to flee to Nepal.
Director General of Police, Punjab Gaurav Yadav, stated that those apprehended have been recognised as Mukesh Kumar (29), Karandeep Yadav (21) and Sajan Singh (24), all locals of Khandwala Chheharta in Amritsar. In addition to the mobile phones, police teams also recovered 700 Nepali currency notes from their possession.
The development occurred after a thorough investigation following the detainment of Joban Singh, also known as Joban, and Gurbaksh Singh, referred to as Lala, who was found with 290 grams of heroin. Yadav stated that initial inquiries indicated that the detained suspects operated under the guidance of Harwinder Rinda, a mastermind associated with the BKI.
He said that the probe has revealed that the arrested accused, Karandeep Yadav, had delivered the grenades and weapons that were recovered from Tarn Taran in January this year. As per the information, Tarn Taran Police had arrested four operatives identified as Robinjeet Singh alias Robin, Harpreet Singh alias Happy, Navjot Singh alias Nav and Jagdeep Singh alias Jagga. The police recovered two hand grenades and a pistol from their possession.
He mentioned that the arrested suspects, who lived in the Khandwala and Chheharta areas of Amritsar, were apprehended by Police Station Kumarkhand in Madehpur, Bihar while attempting to escape to Nepal. The three accused individuals are being returned to Punjab for additional questioning.
Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar shared operation details, stating that based on credible information, an intelligence-led operation was initiated by officers from Chheharta Police Station, Amritsar. This led to the successful arrest of the suspects in Bihar. He noted that ongoing investigations aim to identify both backward and forward linkages in the case, with additional arrests and recoveries anticipated in the upcoming days.
A case was filed on March 7 under section 21-C of the NDPS Act at the Chheharta Police Station in Amritsar. Additionally, the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Mohali has apprehended three members of a terror network led by Pakistan-based BKI terrorist Harvinder Singh, known as Rinda. The detainees are Jagjit Singh, alias Jaggi, and Shubham Khelbude, both from Nanded, Maharashtra, along with Gurdeep Singh, alias Deepa, from Raipur in Ropar.
Police have recovered two weapons: a 12-bore pump-action gun loaded with 15 cartridges and a .32-bore pistol containing eight cartridges. This comes after the prior arrests of Jagdish Singh, also known as Jagga, Shubhdeep Singh, or Shubh, and Sachindeep Singh, referred to as Sachin, related to the Nanded murder case.
