Pakistan’s CTD Arrested Three TTP Terrorists

Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested three terrorists associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), allegedly planning attacks on security forces. The individuals were apprehended in Karachi’s Quaidabad during a joint procedure by Sindh Rangers and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

Authorities said the suspects were engaged in “terrorism, murders, and extortion.” adding that ammunition arms and explosive content were recuperated from their custody. It added that they linked to the Fitna al Khawarij Swat Group. In July, the administration, through an official statement, assigned the TTP as Fitna al Khawarij, while directing all institutions to employ the term khariji (outcast) when calling to the perpetrators of terrorist raids in Pakistan.

Separately, in another operation, the Punjab police eradicated two terrorists in a joint process between the Punjab CTD and Dera Ghazi Khan police. A representative for the Punjab police stated in a statement that the operation was carried out in Kotani Tal, a remote region of Thana Vahowa. The announcement added that the terrorists undertook an attack on police forces utilising hand grenades and hefty weapons but were met with a resolute reaction.

It expressed the police were on high alert in the wake of recent information about terrorist activity around the Punjab-KP border. The announcement added that the operation was led under the authority of DG Khan Regional Police Officer (RPO) Captain (retired) Sajjad Hassan Khan. It stated that DG Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ali immediately reached the location to supervise the situation upon acquiring the report.

According to the information, the terrorists were reportedly plotting attacks on police stations and discreet sites in Punjab. Working on intelligence, the statement expressed the Vahowa station house officer, along with police and CTD groups, followed the suspects, who extended fire, operating rockets, grenades and serious weapons upon being thwarted.

“Despite the intensity of the episode, Punjab police teams, including the Elite Force and backup crews, responded courageously and did not let the terrorists flee. As a consequence, two terrorists were killed on the site,”

the statement stated.
