The Tactics Institute for Security and Counter-Terrorism raises concerns and urges constraints over recent military deployments by China. Taiwan’s Defense Ministry stated that it has noticed 19 Navy and 53 Chinese military planes and coast guard ships operating near the island over the past 24 hours. These developments could have devastating effects on the already volatile region.
According to reports, these deployments were supposed to be the largest since China held large-scale military drills near the island during its 1996 presidential vote. Military ships reportedly have been sent from China’s eastern, northern, and southern military commands.
Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry urged China to stop the military activities near the island. The Chinese move infiltrates uncertainty and threat in the region. It creates trouble for neighbouring countries.
“Beijing’s provocative acts against our nation and regional governments violate the United Nations Charter, which specifies that no country may use intimidation or threats to intrude on the territorial sovereignty of another country,”
Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry said.
The Tactics Institute for Security and Counter-Terrorism urges the Chinese government to exercise restraint. The Tactics Institute insists both countries engage in diplomatic discussions to resolve their conflicts. The Tactics particularly call on the People’s Republic of China to abstain from these types of deployments. Otherwise, these outcomes and quarrels will endanger the peace of the South China Sea.
