Tactics Institute condemns Trump’s proposal to “Take Over” Gaza

The Tactics Institute strongly condemns the recent declaration by U.S. President Donald Trump declaring his intention for the United States to “take over” and “own” Gaza. This proposition, therefore, constitutes a gross violation of international law, sets the region towards further destabilization, and seeks to undermine all efforts towards peace and justice and a just, lasting solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Trump’s argument that the US is in control of rebuilding Gaza and simultaneously resetting the Palestinians elsewhere runs entirely against the sovereign rights of Palestine and directly tests the international rule of law aimed at upholding territorial integrity as well as exercising self-determination.

This would be a grave breach of international humanitarian law because the transfer of Palestinians is without any determination of their own will, in this case, to remain in Gaza under the unilateral authority of an external governing authority. Such actions may then qualify as war crimes under international statutes and fuel the flames of the already burning region.

The Tactics Institute warns that such an approach would severely undermine the fragile ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas. The forced displacement of Palestinians, coupled with a U.S. occupation of Gaza, poses a serious risk for galvanizing mass unrest not only in Palestinian territories but also across neighboring Arab states. Regional actors, especially Egypt, Jordan, and the Gulf states, would be forced to react, and increased geopolitical tensions would risk even wider conflict.

Furthermore, Trump’s statements put U.S. diplomatic relations in the Middle East at risk, undermining its credibility as a peace broker. The United Nations, the European Union, and regional organizations should immediately and unambiguously reject this proposal, reaffirming the illegality of forced displacement and territorial appropriation. The Tactics Institute is calling for accountability on the international community to deal with any perpetrator that tries to undermine these foundational principles.

Based on these very worrying trends, the Tactics Institute is calling upon the United Nations and international judicial organs to utterly dismiss Trump’s suggestion and restate the right of the Palestinians to self-determination. The European Union and the Arab League issued a joint communiqué condemning attempts to forcibly eject Palestinians from Gaza.

The Tactics Institute repeats that any lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict must be based on mutual recognition, diplomacy, and respect for international legal frameworks. Reckless unilateral decisions, such as those proposed by Trump, threaten to dismantle years of diplomatic progress and plunge the region into further turmoil.
