Tactics Institute, demands immediate action to address the escalating threat posed by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorist organization.
The recent infiltration of ADF members into Uganda from the Democratic Republic of the Congo has raised significant concerns regarding the safety and security of Uganda and the broader East African region. It is headed by Ahamed Mahamood Hassan, alias Abu Waqas, a Tanzanian-born bomb expert. the ADF poses a grave danger to urban areas, places of worship, schools, and public events around Kampala and the Mount Rwenzori region.
The ADF, originally formed in Uganda in the 1990s, has a notorious history of violent attacks. It includes the targeting of schools and places of worship. Despite efforts by Ugandan and Congolese forces to eradicate the group, the ADF continues to perpetrate atrocities. It demonstrates a blatant disregard for human life and regional stability.
Tactics Institute urgently calls upon all concerned parties to take decisive action to counter the ADF threat. The recent incursions and planned attacks not only endanger the lives of innocent civilians but also violate fundamental international rights to safety and security.
It is imperative that the Ugandan government, in collaboration with regional partners and international organizations, intensify efforts to dismantle the ADF network and hold its leaders accountable for their heinous crimes. Furthermore, there must be a concerted effort to address the root causes of extremism and radicalization that fuel the ADF’s activities.
Tactics Institute unequivocally demands an immediate cessation of ADF operations and urges all belligerent parties to prioritize the safety and security of the region. Failure to act decisively against the ADF poses a grave threat to regional peace and stability. It is incumbent upon all stakeholders to take swift and coordinated action to counter this menace.
