The Tactics Institute for Security and Defense demands an immediate cessation of China’s aggressive conduct in the South China Sea, highlighting the severe threat it poses to regional security and peace.
Over the past 17 months, incidents of dangerous behaviour by Chinese vessels in the South China Sea have surged, particularly against the Philippines. Since February 2023, the Philippines has documented at least 12 instances of unsafe behaviour by Chinese forces within its exclusive economic zone (EEZ). These incidents include ramming vessels, using water cannons, deploying military-grade lasers, and puncturing rubber boats. Such actions not only endanger lives but also escalate tensions in an already volatile region.
The Tactics Institute expresses grave concern over these violations of international law and fundamental rights. The 2016 Hague Tribunal ruling overwhelmingly supported the Philippines’ claims and rejected China’s sweeping assertions over the South China Sea. Despite this, China continues its aggressive actions, disregarding international rulings and norms. These acts of coercion and interference threaten regional stability and undermine the security of neighbouring nations.
The Tactics Institute calls on the international community to take immediate and decisive action to address this escalating situation. Our demands include China must cease all aggressive actions against Philippine vessels and respect the maritime boundaries established by international law.
The ongoing aggression by China in the South China Sea represents a significant threat to international peace and security. Global leaders must unite to condemn these actions and work towards a resolution that upholds the principles of international law and human rights.
The Tactics Institute for Security and Defense urgently calls on China to halt its aggressive actions against the Philippines and other neighbouring countries immediately. The protection of regional peace and stability must be the foremost priority.
