Tactics Institute Urges Restraint and Respect for International Law in the South China Sea

London, UK – The Tactics Institute for Security and Counterterrorism urgently calls on all parties involved in the South China Sea conflict to exercise maximum restraint and immediately halt any actions that could further destabilize the region. The recent escalation, highlighted by Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s stern warning to China, threatens regional security and peace.

The ongoing dispute between China and the Philippines has reached a critical point. Manila has condemned Chinese patrol ships for using water cannons against Philippine vessels, actions China defends as sovereignty protection. President Marcos declared that any Filipino casualties resulting from China’s deliberate actions would be considered “near an act of war,” warranting a corresponding response from the Philippines. This conflict not only exacerbates the already volatile situation in the South China Sea but also risks dragging the United States, a treaty ally of the Philippines, into a broader confrontation.

Tensions in the South China Sea are not new, but the recent intensification poses significant risks to regional stability. The U.S., supporting the Philippines through military aid and joint exercises, continues to emphasize the importance of avoiding unnecessary conflict escalation. “Our goal is to ensure things don’t spiral out of control,” stated U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

The Tactics Institute stresses that the actions of all involved parties must conform to international laws and norms. The institute condemns any form of aggression and underscores the importance of diplomatic dialogue and legal frameworks in resolving territorial disputes. The escalation involving water cannon attacks and military posturing is a clear violation of international fundamental rights and jeopardizes peace in the region.

We urge China to reconsider its aggressive tactics and for both China and the Philippines to engage in peaceful negotiations. The involvement of external powers, particularly the U.S., should focus on mediation and de-escalation, rather than exacerbating the conflict.

The Tactics Institute demands an immediate cessation of all aggressive actions and calls for enhanced communication between the conflicting parties to prevent further escalation. Diplomatic efforts must be prioritized to ensure regional stability and peace. The Tactics Institute remains committed to advocating for peaceful resolutions and upholding international law in conflict zones worldwide.
