Qatar Leads 27th Arab Conference on Counter-Terrorism

Qatar indicating its commitment to regional security and anti-terrorism endeavours, the State of Qatar chaired the 27th Arab Conference of Officials Responsible for Combating Terrorism. Held at the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council in Tunisia from October 23 to 24, 2024, the meeting brought together critical security officials and experts from the Arab world to address demanding challenges related to counter-terrorism and regional stability.

The conference was headed over by Colonel Khalid Ali Al Kaabi, Secretary of Qatar’s National Counter-Terrorism Committee. Under his leadership, Qatar specified the tone for a collaborative strategy to counter terrorism and emphasized the significance of unified regional strategies.

The Qatari delegation, guided by Captain Jassim Hamid Al Mohammadi, was actively engaged in discussions, reinforcing Qatar’s proactive position in addressing terrorism through diplomatic and security efforts.

During the two-day meeting, officials addressed several important topics on the agenda, covering a range of topics critical to enhancing counter-terrorism systems in the Arab region.

Topics included recognising emerging terror threats, boosting border security, enforcing regional intelligence-sharing systems, and researching advanced technologies to monitor and counter-terrorist activities.

A notable outcome of the conference was the determination to strengthen regional collaboration and specify a framework for sharing intelligence and resources among Arab nations. Delegates agreed on embracing measures to streamline the exchange of counter-terrorism data, improve response instruments, and improve joint training exercises among security forces.

The 27th Arab Conference of Officials Responsible for Combating Terrorism highlighted Qatar’s dedication to leading and partaking in collective counter-terrorism measures. By facilitating collaborative discussions, assuming unified strategies, and advancing regional security efforts, Qatar and other Arab nations persist in working towards a common vision: a terror-free Arab territory.
