From the First World War to the Syrian war, the distinction between the front and the so-called “home front” is becoming indistinguishable. Civilian targets in conflict zones have been the centre of attention for international organisations, media platforms and governments. But the targeting of civilian populations is not exceptional and is now a systemic feature of warfare. This webinar discusses the targeting of women, children, the elderly, and the LGBTQI+ community as an element of total warfare in which societies seek a deeper level of victorious validation than winning a battle.

Report Launch: Radicalisation in the Sahel

On Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Ecole Militaire in Paris, two think tanks presented the report “Radicalisation in the Sahel: From Brussels to Abu Dhabi: Islamic mobilisation and colliding anti-terrorism strategies in the Sahel.” The event was hosted by General Francois Chauvancy and attended by a number of security experts and academics.

Tactics Institute holds Seminar at European Parliament

A new report by the Tactics Institute for Security and Counter-Terrorism, focusing on Southeastern Europe, says effective counter-terrorism policy must combat social exclusion rather than fuelling it with divisive discourse. The report looks specifically into Islamic Radicalisation, as a formative process, its impact, and the role of external funding.

Event Summary: Integration as a tool for Security and Social Cohesion

On 17th June in central London the Tactics Institute for Security and Counter Terrorism held its third public event, following events in the British parliament and French senate.
The seminar tapped into lively and passionate debate about the issues of integration, cohesion and security in the United Kingdom, which have only heightened since the country voted to leave the European Union in 2016.
